Antonio Garcia Pascual is a Deputy Division chief at the International Monetary Fund. Before joining the IMF in 2020, he spent a decade in the markets as Managing Director and Chief European Economist at Barclays in London. Earlier, he held positions at the IMF as Sr Economist / Economist (2002-10). He has been a visiting scholar at SAIS, Johns Hopkins University, and has taught International Finance at Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich. He is a member of the CESifo Research Network and the ESADE Centre for Economic Policy. His research has been published in academic journals, including the Journal of International Money and Finance, Oxford Economic Papers, and the Review of International Economics. During his tenure in the private sector, his research has been cited by Bloomberg, CNBC, The Economist, FT, WSJ, and NYT. He earned his BA in Economics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and his MA and PhD in Economics from the University of California, UCSC.
